Events Simplified venue of the month is Carden Park. Why? In a word...versatility. It has everything you could need for your event.
When we were invited to visit last week, we were encouraged to try everything and as we did, I was challenging myself to think of an event that wouldn't work there. Nada. I came up with nothing!
Teambuilding? Tick
Romantic and relaxing getaway? Tick
Gala dinner? Tick
Client networking with golf competitions? Tick
Private dining? Tick
In fact, I challenge you, dear reader, to throw an event idea my way and I'll tell you how Carden Park can meet your requirements, in style!
Privately owned by Steve Morgan, a keen golf enthusiast, the two golf courses are The Cheshire and The Niklaus. Though our day was made more challenging by the mini Beast from the East, causing the golf balls to bounce way more than normal and ping of at odd angles when they hit ice formations, the four-ball folks thoroughly enjoyed their day and had nothing but admiration for the course...and the amazing cornish pasties at the halfway house!
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start you at the beginning.
The drive is impressively long and being surrounded by so much land gave the feeling of entering somewhere truly opulent. As we made our way up to the hotel, we passed the UEFA-approved football pitch and the twin-fountain lake complete with a family of swans.
We had arrived later than our check-in for the spa, so were feeling a little stressed from our journey, but were soon put at our ease. Despite the upscale surroundings, every member of staff is so down-to-earth and they made us feel totally at home - I could feel the tension escaping as soon as I walked in. It felt like, along with our bags, they took the cares of the day away.
I would love to share photos of the bedrooms, but I decided not to. My reason? They are all about to undergo refurbishment. The Carden Park team think the rooms and the carpets are "tired". Honestly? They were anything but, yet I was given a sneak preview of what the new rooms might look like and I want to save that treat for you to discover!
I mentioned dining and there are so many options here that even if you had a 3-day retreat, you couldn't get round all the different restaurants in the time. Each has its own personality from the 8-course fine dining with paired wine flights in The Vines to the more casual golf club (I saw it being laid up for an early Christmas function) or a summer BBQ on the heated terraces the choices are flexible to say the least.
And of course, you can make the most of the extensive land. Go for walks in nature, around the vineyard - they make their own white and rosé sparkling wine and it is gorgeous!
The sculpture park is worth a wander - these three are just my favourites from the many to gaze upon.
Or if you like something more active, Carden Park has its own outdoor centre. Zip wires and high ropes activities to the more gentle garden-size connect 4 type games and everything in between from archery to duck herding.
So the next time you're at a creative cul-de-sac, give me a call and let's get you fired up with possibilities!
